On Friday Mom flew into Mesa airport from Stockton on Allegiant Air and my cousin's wife drove up to Sedona and brought me to Wickenburg where we met up and spent the weekend with my aunt and two cousins and their families who live there.
The weather finally climbed into triple digits with today being 110 in Phoenix! (whew!) We spent our time eating, shopping, visiting and enjoying their dogs and cats.
Last night some of us went to Yorman's Bistro in Surprise, AZ where they have good food and live jazz. The band played some Dave Brubeck music and Mom reminisced about attending the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California with Dave Brubeck back in the late 30s! She graduated in 1940 and he in 1941.
Here we are after our dinner. Mom's on the left, I'm on the right & in between us are Aunty Barbara, my cousin Ed, his wife Charilyn and their daughter Heidi.
Today Julie drove us to the Doubletree Suites in Phoenix and we met up with our tour group tonight. There's a couple from Decorah - yes we realized we'd met each other at some point - which just goes to show what I was told once, that almost everywhere you go you'll run into someone who's been to Decorah or lives there now.
My fortune cookie from tonight's dinner at a Chinese buffet says, "You will be spending time outdoors, in the mountains, near water." Tomorrow morning we're off on our Grand Adventure!
