Uptown Sedona

Yesterday afternoon I took an Ace Express shuttle from the Airport Hyatt Place to the Iris Garden inn in Sedona, arriving a little after 3:30.

Once you're out of Phoenix, it's a pretty drive, but as soon as you get into Oak Creek Canyon it becomes a spectacular drive! I felt so excited to be back in Red Rock country because it's just incredible! We dropped the other passenger off in the town of Oak Creek, so I enjoyed the scenic route. Another fun thing was that the shuttle driver was originally from Iowa and it turned out his daughter-in-law is the older sister of 2 people Bruce and Courtney went to school with in Decorah and their dad was one of the school principals. It is, indeed, a small world.

Uptown Sedona is a unique area of shops, art galleries and restaurants all surrounded by the gorgeous red rock formatons. What a view!

I walked to the Wildflower Bread Company for supper and picked up some cinnamon rolls for breakfasts in my room. Then I looked at the shop windows in the little plaza there and especially enjoyed the outdoor sculptures ...

and my very favorite - this foal investigating a turtle.
